A U.S. Marine made a surprise homecoming this week when she showed at a Nashville Sounds game to reunite with her parents.

A man and woman were attending a baseball game on Wednesday (September 22) and were chosen to compete in one of the games and contests played throughout the game. While the choice of contestants may typically seem random, it was no coincidence that they were chosen to play on Wednesday, per FOX 17.

After the couple won a swag bag, the announcer said he had a "special prize I think would top everything off." That's when he revealed that U.S. Marine Private First Class Lauren Harris had returned home after being gone for the past year and was waiting to surprise her parents.

Unbeknownst to her parents, Harris walked up behind the couple, holding flowers, and beaming from ear to ear. When the announcer says Harris' name, her parents cautious excitement transforms instantly into shock before they turn around and run into their daughter's open arms.

The Sounds, who helped organize the surprise, shared video of the emotional moment the Marine reunited her waiting family.

"What it's all about right here," the team said on Twitter. "Welcome home, Private First Class Lauren Harris. And a sincere thank you for all you do."
